"STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE PLEASE"
Take me back to the good ol’ days when I was a kid and I’d hear that nostalgic musical melody coming down the street. You’d run in the house and scrape up some spare change or ask your mom for a $1.50 or so and run back out hoping you didn’t miss it, the ice cream truck that is. I knew exactly what I wanted to order every time, a “strawberry shortcake please”. And I’d devour it all up and go back to playing, hide n’ go seek, double dutch, ding dong ditch it, or whatever else I played with my friends. This recipe brings me right back to those days check out the full recipe below.
STRAWBERRY OREO SHORTCAKE POPSICLES w/ HOMEMADE ICE CREAM
VANILLA ICE CREAM IN A BAG
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 cup Heavy Whipping Cream
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 2 Tablespoons Sugar
- 1 - 1 1/2 Cup Rock Salt or Ice Cream Salt
- 1/2 Gallon Ziplock bag of Salt
- 1 Gallon Ziplock Bag
- 2 Sandwich Bags
Pour milk, vanilla, and sugar into one sandwich bag, push the air out & zip it up and double it up.
Shake the ingredients around to mix completely
Add ice to the gallon bag until it is halfway full, you may have to add some ice part way through once it begins to melt. Add the rock salt
Place the sandwich bag with the wet ingredients in the gallon Ziplock and zip it shut
Shake it like crazy and squish and squeeze until it freezes - approx. 10mins. (pro tip, use oven mitts cause it will get cold).
Put in the freezer while making the strawberry topping (Don't let it get too frozen)
